ON THE TRAINING FRONT
Total km for the week - 39km
Total Hours for the week (includes running & kettlebells) - 7h00

Monday 29th October 2012 - Rest & Chiropractor
On Monday I went to see Martin, the best Chiropractor ever, about my knee! And my big toe was a "bit stuck" and there was pressure from my tight quad which was causing pressure on my knee! And it was so amazing to run on tuesday and be totally pain free in my knee! Thank you Martin Khoury!

Tuesday 30th October 2012 - 7km speedwork 7 x 750 yasso's
Every Tuesday a couple of the Dolphin Striders head for our local shopping centre car park and turn it into a speed track from 5am - 6:30am! Harry and I did 750m yasso's! Here is a pic from my endemondo tracker showing how we went round and round and round! It was awesome! Our fastest 750m was 3m39seconds!

Wednesday 31st October 2012 - Kettlebells 1 hour
I had a great kettle bells work out & headed to the running club in the evening for the club monthly braai!

Thursday 1st November 2012 - 8km beach / boardwalk run
What a wonderful start to November! A beautiful boardwalk & beach run with Harry, Sarah, Tammy and Joanne! Such fantastic amazing people, fun and special times had! We met at the running club at 5am and we were off!
Beautiful sunrise on the Ballito Boardwalk

As we got onto the beach,  with all the rain & storms we have had, there was so much foam on the beach so as crazy runners do, we started playing with the foam "SA snow"! This is what we get up to in Ballito in the early mornings!

Foam fight "SA version of snow"!
Crazy South African runners!

Friday 26th October 2012 - REST Day

Saturday 27th October 2012 - 18km Blue Holla Trail Run
PYTHON BUSH..thats comforting ;)
I absolutely love running at Holla Trails! So I wake up with ease when my alarm clock goes off at 4am, enjoy my cuppa coffee and slice of peanut butter toast, pack my running pack, which includes a 2litre water bladder & bananas for a snack along the way & my packet to leave in the car with slipslops for afterwards and most important my Super M chocolate milk as my post run recovery drink & am off so excited to hit the trail! We set off at 5am, there was a chill & freshness in the air, we started with a monster climb & then turned in to go through the sugar cane fields, along the river and even through Python Bush! We were out for 2h40minutes and I loved every minute, soaking up the beauty and wonder of nature, even the slipping and sliding through the mud! As usual the birdlife is abundant, we saw pin tailed whydahs, fan tailed widow birds,  African fire finches, hadeda's, starlings, swallows, weavers, yellow billed kites to name the few that I could identify! We saw lots of animal spore too, which looked like duiker, genets, and again lots that I didn't know what they were! Then we came across a bunch of naughty vervet monkeys swinging & jumping from tree to tree! What a magic run! Thank you Harry and Sarah for a beautiful morning out & the great company!

Sunday 28th October 2012 - 6km boardwalk run

On Sunday later afternoon, I headed off to the boardwalk! It was a beautiful evening! But when I saw lighting, I quickly turned around and headed home!

Introduction

On Thursday evening I attended Story Sessions (www.storysessions.co.za) and listened to the inspiring story of Margaret Hirsch, a real rags to riches story! She is an incredible woman and she was named SA business woman of the year for 2012! Her passion for SA is contagious and she encouraged each one of us to get involved and be apart of the change in SA!  Have a look at the Story Sessions website to read more about her inspiring story and follow her on Twitter @MargaretHirsch to be inspired and motivated!

I also discovered Don Millers Storyline MySubplot.com. website and amazing tool or organise your life! Have a look at my page http://mysubplot.com/user/Lara_7x7 and create your own to ensure you live a meaning story! And I just love this quote it is so true "If you want to live a meaningful life, imagine yourself 10 years from now, then ask yourself what you'll wish you'd done by then. Then do those things now" (Don Miller, Subplot)

I really hope you are inspired and take action from reviewing Margaret's Story and that you use Subplot to plot you meaningful life story!

Total Hours for the week (includes running, swimming, kettlebells) - 7h00

Monday - Wednesday REST for this irritated knee..

Thursday 25th October 2012

A well paced hilly 10km with Sarah and Harry. Lots of memories, we did the route I did 2 - 3 times a week when training for comrades marathon earlier this year!

Friday 26th October 2012

Boy I was feeling lazy to get out of bed...and then I had the thought ... you have a decision "Endure the pain of discipline right now or regret later" and I shot out of bed and off to KB and it was an awesome session. There were just 2 of us in the class so we did an awesome "circuit" with the weights increasing...my weights were 4kg, 6kg, 8kg then 10kg! And it was great to also focus on technique!

Saturday 27th October 2012
It was a rainy day so we moved our trail run to Sunday! So I did a gentle 4km walk along the boardwalk!

Wading through rivers
Sunday 28th October 2012
Oh what an incredible morning at Holla! I was up at 4:15am to have a cup of coffee and a piece of toast and pack my trail pack & I was off to Holla. We were out from 5am - 9am, it was muddy but awesome and an incredibly beautiful 25km Holla red trail with Harry! Amazing birdlife, little finches, whydahs, blue cranes on top of sugar cane heaps, little blue and green bird, we waded across streams, sloshed in mud knee deep at one point! It was just too exquisite for words! Here are a couple of pics!

Muddy Holla Red trail..what a fun morning!
Stepped in sinking mud!

Happy to have bridges over most rivers

Well with 19 weeks to go to my 7 x 7 Adventure, this week included.....

Introduction
An interesting week, full of ups and downs! On Monday I was feeling completely overwhelmed with the task and challenge at hand and started to feel a quite disillusioned and fearful! I found myself praying for confirmation & encouragement! That afternoon I received 4 wonderful encouraging messages saying that what I am doing is inspiring them and to keep it up! With  one of my key objectives being "To inspire others to live their passion & purpose" that was all I needed to get me going again! Thank you to Rob, Mike, Heather & Debs!

On Tuesday I spent a wonderful morning at LIV Village (www.liv-village.com), a beautiful village in KZN where widows and orphans are given a new hope and future! It was their end of term special assembly and Rory Dyer gave an uplifting message! LIV is an incredible model and will truly play a huge role to RESTORE South Africa! LIV also played a large part in the motivation for the design and name of the NPO I am starting...RESTORE SA. Another milestone was achieved on Tuesday, my logo and business cards were finalised, a great big thank you to Sue Clarke and her team for designing them.
Here it is, what do you think? What does YOUR UNIQUE PIECE look like?

New beginnings.. the Name & logo of of the NPO I am starting!
On Wednesday an article was published in our local news paper..have a look:

In March 2013 I will be kayaking in Antarctica

On Thursday I received an email from the organisers of the Antarctica Marathon which really got my heart racing, its so exciting! And apart from all the amazing information & preparation information, they informed us we could book to go on an Antarctica Kayak Adventure, so this is what I'll be doing in March before the marathon!

So all in all a great exciting week after the daunting start!

ON THE TRAINING FRONT
Total km for the week - 22km (bit bleak..I have a niggle in my right knee so I cut back on mileage!)
Total Hours for the week (includes running, swimming, kettlebells) - 5h00

Monday 15th & Friday 19th October 2012: 1 hour Kettlebells

On Monday & Friday I did 1 hour of kettlebells! The swinging motion and moves are starting to feel a bit more normal! Its takes a while to get the hang of it, but wow it is great strength training! Fridays class was all about the legs with repeats of lunges, squats, burpees & star jumps..boy oh boy I was so stiff until Sunday!

Thursday 18th October 2012

I attempted to have a good swim instead of running to give my knees a break, but being the novice I am, I arrived at the tidal pool at high tide with a waves of 2m and I was just tossed all over the place and decided after 1 length I was exhausted and decided it will be low tide swimming in future ;)

Wednesday 17th & Saturday 20th October 2012: 8km Hilly Salt Rock Run & 14km LSR

I did a gentle 8km jog! And on Saturday I did the longer 14km route along the coast, it was lovely and cool with a bit of light drizzle! My knee is still a bit tender..I think it might be time for new takkies!
